Concrete Jungle

Concrete may have been, according to the Surprisingly Awesome podcast, at the beginning of modern civilization some 12,000 years in the Taurus Mountains of now Turkey. It remains an ugly building material.

San Luis is full of concrete. Beyond apartment buildings, houses and cabanas, you will find it to fence of areas and to build play parks for kids. Also tables and chairs next to quaint rivers are made out of concrete. And of course, you will find concrete parilla (barbecue) tables in my places.

I thought brightly colored painted concrete walls were something you find primarily in Mexico. Not true.

A few times do your see people build houses out of natural stone, or build a summer house out of wood. Oh what a difference it makes.

Hell will freeze over before Argentina gives up its addiction to pouring concrete everywhere.
